I served as the Lead Curator of this exhibit. My responsibilities included conducting in-depth research on the subject, serving as the creative lead, object selection, writing the interpretive wall and label texts, as well as selecting the archival footage that was included in the video being projected.

This exhibit served as my capstone creative work project for my Museum Studies MA program at San Francisco State University.
The exhibit tells the story of the strike at SF State that began in November 1968 and lasted until March 1969. It remains the longest student strike, and the outcome was the creation of the first College of Ethnic Studies in the United States. The exhibit highlights the courageous actions of students in the face of intense opposition and their willingness to put their lives on hold and give themselves fully to their cause, the support from the Bay Area community, and the lasting effects of their persistence. More than anything, this exhibit is a testament to the power of organization, solidarity, and community.
The exhibit was developed in partnership with the departments of Special Collections and Labor Archives at SF State, and I served as the lead curator. For this project, I spent many hours in research appointments at the LARC, reading primary and secondary sources, and meeting with scholars whose expertise in the subject exceeds my own. I chose to display objects from the collections that have not been previously displayed to give a new perspective.
This is a permanent, ongoing exhibit that opened on May 9, 2026. It is currently on view in the Special Collections Gallery located on the fourth floor of the J. Paul Leonard Library.
