For this performance, I assisted participants before and after the performance. I was tasked with orienting guests on what to expect and assisted Ashwini with stage direction.
This performance piece by Ashwini Bhat took place at the Montalvo Art Center. She invited members of the audience to join her on stage to link arms and step on coils of wet clay to form a mandala. After the piece was completed, Ashwini took the unfired clay back to her studio, where it was glazed and fired before being installed at the Palo Alto Art Center in August. The piece invites participants and viewers to examine their relationship with the Earth and encourages to engage with nature on a deeper level. This performance was a collaboration between the Montalvo Art Center and the Palo Alto Art Center.
